Posted by Teresa Varley on December 15, 2013 – 10:00 pm

The offense stayed hot in the second quarter, with Roethlisberger hitting Emmanuel Sanders for 21 and 12 yards and then added a nine-yard pass to Heath Miller. Bell rattled off an eight-yard carry, and Roethlisberger hit Antonio Brown for 11 yards to the five-yard line. On third down Roethlisberger’s pass to Jerricho Cotchery in the end zone was broken-up, bringing on Shaun Suisham for a 25-yard field goal and 24-0 lead.

Brandon Tate gave the Bengals life with a 52-yard kickoff return to the Steelers 47-yard line. Andy Dalton hit A.J. Green for 19 yards and Giovani Bernard added a seven-yard run. Dalton added a nine-yard completion to Green to the 12-yard line. Bernard capped the drive with a one-yard touchdown run, to cut the lead to 24-7 with 5:14 to play in the half.

The Steelers offense went right back to work with Felix Jones going off left guard for 12 yards and Roethlisberger hitting Miller for nine yards. Jonathan Dwyer went up the middle for five yards, and added another 10 yards. The offense slowed after that, bringing Suisham back on for a 45-yard field goal attempt that sailed through the uprights to extend the lead to 27-7.
