A dream come true for a tough kid

Posted by Teresa Varley on November 16, 2012 – 2:09 pm

Life has not been easy for 18-year old Justin Chadwick, who was born with cystic fibrosis and had to battle the effects of it all through his life.

On top of that, Chadwick was diagnosed with cancer last summer, and showed amazing strength getting through it.

Now that he is in remission, he had the pleasure of having a longtime wish come true when he attended Steelers practice on Friday, meeting all of the players, and will be at the Steelers-Ravens game on Sunday night.

“It’s pretty awesome,” said his mother Paula Chadwick. “It’s a great opportunity for the whole family, especially Justin. It’s great to see him enjoy this. He deals a lot with his health and doesn’t get to do things other kids can do. It’s great he can do something like this that is a dream of his.”

Of course this young man is a steelers fan. Look into his eyes and you can see the toughness and fight in him to be going through all this in his life and he stands strong just like the greatest football team in the world. I wish you a full recovery and keep up the fight Justin because you have the steel nation behind you and we got your back. Hope you can enjoy the holidays with your family .

What a terrific gesture by the Steelers toward this brave young man. The Steelers are just a real class organization, I have always been proud of this team for the compassion they show, especially to the children.

    Great job guys.

The steelers are made up of more than just football players. They are made up of class act guys who care about people and not just themselves. My son Devon was the make a wish kid last weekend meeting the steelers. I am so happy that this young man was able to meet them as well. We will cherish our memories of that weekend forever as will you. The steelers go above and beyond on and off the field and I am proud to be a member of steeler nation. Good luck to you and your family Justin. There is a reason god chose you to be dealt the hand you were just as my son Devon was. You two will touch many lives and help others just as the steelers do. Now lets go kick some raven butt Sunday night.
