Steelers to collect for Salvation Army Disaster Relief

Posted by Teresa Varley on November 9, 2012 – 12:15 pm

The Steelers will hold their annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Collection at Monday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Heinz Field.

Fans attending can donate at kettles that will be placed throughout Heinz Field raising funds for The Salvation Army Disaster Relief/Hurricane Sandy Kettle Collection.

For those not attending the game but wish to support The Salvation Army Disaster Relief/Hurricane Sandy Kettle Collection, donations can be made by clicking on “Steelers Online Red Kettle.”

Prior to last week’s game against the New York Giants NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell greeted first responders who have helped in the recovery efforts.

A first responder in the New Jersey area, Carlos Pernett from Keyport, N.J. who is a firefighter in Keansburg, N.J., had significant damage to his home took some solace in finding his Terrible Towel, wet and dirty, but still intact.
