Post-Game Reaction: Troy Polamalu

Posted by Teresa Varley on January 8, 2012 – 11:00 pm

On how he would rate Denver QB Tim Tebow’s performance
“He won; that’s all that matters. They won, I should say.”

On Tebow’s playing style
“We’ve played against a lot of double threat style quarterbacks, and I think the only thing different for us was the option. We’ve played against Seneca Wallace who scrambles really well, even Colt McCoy, but the option is what differs a little bit.”

On whether he was surprised by Tebow’s performance
“No, it really doesn’t. I don’t think (he did anything different). They made some plays. Guys got open, and we’ve seen many times on film where guys would actually drop the ball when they were wide open, and they made some good catches today, and (Tebow) put the ball in some tight places.”

On whether this core group of Steelers can make another Super Bowl run
“God willing. It’s tough to say right now, but we’re very talented and we have a lot of young guys, so we have a good mix of experience. Time will tell. It’s tough to tell at this moment.”

On the Broncos connecting on several big plays
“Any time there are big plays, it’s on us as a secondary unit. They were able to make some big plays against us today.”

On what the win means for the Broncos
“It’s good; it’s a playoff victory. They’ll be able to play New England next and that will be a good challenge for them.”

I felt that the team played a great game. Losses are never easy. It hurts all of you as it does us fans. But because we are your fans we love you and there is always next season. God be with all of you in the off season and we will be waiting for training camp and the pre season.

I don’t care who doubts us or who criticizes us, we know our team. We’ve overcome many challenges this year that most teams would be scared of. A majority of NFL teams could be the #1 Defense and make it to the playoffs with our unfortunate problems. In the end someone has to dethrone us because the truth is we are NFL greatest dynasty.
